Chapter 1 in Knowledge Management, 2025, pp 1-35 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter provides an introduction to value creation in digitally enabled and knowledge-based societies and economies. The importance of knowledge ethics and a critical thinking mindset and skills is highlighted. Challenges and strategies of knowledge management in “VUCA” environments are introduced and a definition of “Knowledge Management” is given. Concepts of how organisations learn are explained. The basic questions of managing knowledge in organisations are formulated and a self-assessment form invites the reader to evaluate their organisation. The KM tool described at the end of the chapter is the knowledge café.
