Implications of Weakening of Some of Arrow Conditions

Satish Jain

Chapter 7 in Social Choice Theory, 2022, pp 95-102 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter analyzes the implications of weakening of some of Arrow conditions. Gibbard’s Oligarchy Theorem is stated and proved. The class of $$\left( \frac{m-1}{m}\right) $$ m - 1 m -majority rules is defined; and necessary and sufficient conditions for an $$\left( \frac{m-1}{m}\right) $$ m - 1 m -majority rule to yield acyclic social preferences for every logically possible profile of individual orderings are stated and proved.
