Abstract:
Abstract As a rule, changes to human life in demography, are recorded using life expectancy. Whether these changes are associated with improved or deterioration of the health of the population, it is possible to evaluate using health indicators. We know that there are many different health indicators, and every one is suitable for other purposes. Some focus on the calculation of life expectancy by subjective health, morbidity, and disability or is also possible to calculate health deficits. In the example of the Czech Republic, we tried to create a new health indicator that uses data from the European Health Interview Survey in 2008, 2014 and 2019. A new variable was proposed based on a combination of the answers to the questions from the Minimum European Health Module. The paper deals with the possibilities and limits of the new health indicator.
