Abstract:
Abstract The topic of intergenerational mobility measurement has been increasingly popular among economists in recent years. For interesting surveys, see, for example, Solon (1999) and Corak (2004). In a recent article, Van de gaer et al. (2001) have made a distinction between three meanings of intergenerational mobility, stressing respectively the idea of movement, the inequality of opportunity, and the inequality of life chances.
