Political ideology and big pharma in the allocation of health aid

Abstract: Building on the framework of Suzuki (2020), we examine to what extent a change in the governing party in donor countries influences the composition of health aid to developing countries. We find that left of centre governments allocate less health aid to purchase pharmaceuticals but not in donor countries with larger pharmaceutical industries.
