Abstract: This paper examines the phenomenon of informal industrial concentrations (IICs) in Greece with a focus on the Oinofyta IIC. By integrating classical theories of industrial location with contemporary sustainability and circular economy concepts, we investigate why the IIC developed in its current location, analyze its defining characteristics, and assess the feasibility of transforming it into a remediation business park (RBP). A comprehensive set of indicators – is applied to the IIC. The results, supported by SWOT and radar analyses, reveal strong economic and social strengths and significant external opportunities, offset by notable environmental weaknesses.
