Therefore, businesses are implementing a range of environmental protection efforts and creating green business plans. The factors that influence employee performance and green innovation still warrant more study, despite the expansion of this field of study. In response, this study adds to the body of knowledge by examining the factors that influence employee performance and green innovation. The data will be gathered from 405 workers “in Saudi Arabia’s educational sector in public universities using the quantitative research approach and will then be evaluated using the partial least squares structural equation modeling method. Results indicate that an organization’s environmental performance in the public sector is positively and significantly impacted by the performance of its personnel. Additionally, the findings show that green innovation significantly affects how environmentally responsible a business is and mediates the link between independent variables and an organization’s environmental performance. This study shows that the application of GHRM can help organizations execute green innovation more effectively, which would improve the performance of universities. By analyzing these links and assessing the mediation effects, this study’s originality adds to the body of knowledge on organizations’ environmental performance. It also provides advice for decision-makers on how to foster an environmentally friendly workplace culture by maximizing employees’ use of green human resources techniques.
