Innovation in local governance: emerging New Zealand experience

Peter McKinlay

Asia Pacific Journal of Public Administration, 2014, vol. 36, issue 2, 162-165

Abstract: Recent local governance innovation in New Zealand involves the use of arm's-length entities in the ownership and management of significant assets for the benefit of local communities. Two examples are outlined in the context of local government arrangements. They are possible exemplars for developments elsewhere, while also providing a valuable basis and stimulus for future comparative research.
