Abstract:
This paper highlights some of the successes, challenges, and opportunities of the multi-stakeholder approach to Internet governance, based upon the authors’ experiences in the NTIA, the U.S. government agency responsible for spearheading many of the U.S. government’s internet governance initiatives. It identifies key areas upon which the internet community can focus as it strives to improve the multi-stakeholder approach and adapt it to other areas of internet governance and policy.
