The spatial agglomeration of Italian agritourism farms

Abstract: This study investigates the effects of localization and territorial features on the distribution and spatial agglomeration of agritourism farms in Italy. We employ both a spatial Durbin model and a multinomial regression model, using an Italian provincial level (NUTS-3) dataset. The results provide robust evidence of positive spillovers of external factors that affect the provincial agglomeration of agritourism farms; moreover, the analyses demonstrate that this is largely a localized process involving both localization and internal agritourism farm features. These findings have important implications for decision-makers and can support the development of more forms of agritourism.
