Does Catholic Distinctiveness Matter in Catholic Schools?

Abstract: For many decades, public and Catholic schools promoted rival understandings of character and human flourishing. Contemporary public schools have largely abandoned such goals, and there is evidence that many Catholic schools have also neglected them to focus on academic achievement. This trend is both practically unwise and civically irresponsible.
