Adriano Devisto Mataputung, Rizmie Oktariani and Daniel Ramos Simbolon

Contemporary Social Science, 2024, vol. 19, issue 5, 740-748

Abstract: Michel Dion's ‘Sustainable Finance and Financial Crime' provides a detailed exploration of the relationship between sustainable finance and financial crime, addressing issues such as corruption, the shadow economy and financial fraud. This book is essential for understanding the wider impact of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) factors, particularly through its focus on ethical leadership and corporate governance. Meanwhile, ‘Sustainable Finance in Europe' by Danny Busch, Guido Ferrarini and Seraina Grünewald examines European efforts to incorporate sustainability into corporate governance codes and the role of prudential regulation, offering valuable insights into the regulatory frameworks that support sustainable finance in Europe. Additionally, Mario La Torre and Sabrina Leo's ‘Contemporary Issues in Sustainable Finance' introduces a distinct perspective by analysing the role of women and various ESG instruments, such as green bonds, providing empirical evidence and critical analysis that enhances our understanding of ESG integration's financial consequences. Together, these books provide a comprehensive view of how sustainable finance, regulatory measures and ethical leadership intersect to foster sustainable development and combat financial crime.
