Impact of wave incidence parameters on laser radar detection of conducting targets with H-wave polarization

Abstract: This work is to select precisely the proper frequency range that reduces the dependence of the laser radar cross-section (LRCS) on the incident wave parameters. In doing this, we investigate the effect of these parameters including incident angle and the beam width on the LRCS. We present a numerical analysis of the effect of the H-wave polarization on the radar detection capability in random medium and hence compare it with the freespace case. In doing this, our calculations use a boundary value method considering surface current on the whole contour of the object. As a result, the performance of the LRCS is studied with the target configuration assuming the creeping waves that have remarkable influence especially in the resonance range.
