Abstract: In this paper, an omnidirectional hinge antenna suitable for laptops operating at the wireless fidelity 6E (Wi-Fi 6E) frequency bands is proposed. The designed hinge antenna consists of a 2-port Multiple Input-Multiple Output (MIMO) system with two open slots etched on the upper cover. The proposed inverted-F antenna (IFA) is fabricated on a 0.8 mm FR-4 substrate and connected vertically to the ground covering the desired frequency bands of 2.4 GHz (2400–2500 MHz)/ 5 GHz (5150–5850 MHz) and 6 GHz (5925–7125 MHz). The radiation patterns are measured and show low level of gain depression better than −20 dBi without significant nulls and exhibit favorable omnidirectional mode at all the principal planes.
