[EN] For central banks, whose primary objective is price stability, expanding information sets is crucial for effectively monitoring price developments and improving forecasting methods. The fresh fruit and vegetable group, which accounts for nearly a quarter of the food and non-alcoholic beverages category -the highest-weighted group in the CPI basket- exhibits significant seasonal and irregular price fluctuations due to supply variability. Although tracking price and supply dynamics in this group is essential for both food security and inflation analysis, the availability of relevant data and indicators remains limited. This study aims to introduce new leading indicators that will enhance the monitoring of supply and price developments in the fresh fruits and vegetables market.
