Abstract: In the last two decades the population of Romania had always a negative natural increase. On the other hand the population age structure has changed significantly. This paper, based on these general findings, analyzes in parallel with births and deaths dynamics, the evolution of the main causes of death in the period analyzed, both numerically and of the structural changes.
