Abstract: This paper aims to examine the relationship between motivation and procrastination in the workplace. Motivation is addressed as a key factor in determining individual and organisational performance and its impact on commitment, productivity and job satisfaction is investigated. The paper also focuses on various motivational theories and how they can be applied in the specific context of the work environment. In the organizational context, procrastination can lead to decreased workforce effectiveness and thus decreased organizational productivity focusing on the behaviors associated with procrastination in the work environment which can be classified into two main categories:the first involving engaging in non-work activities during working hours such as long discussions, prolonged breaks or cleaning the workspace and the second category of procrastination which refers to the extensive use of technology, especially the internet and mobile devices, known as „cyberslacking†.
