Abstract: In today’s social context, private tutoring at the primary education level has become increasingly prevalent. Rising academic pressure, parental expectations, and intense competition within the educational environment have led many families to enroll their children in supplementary classes to enhance their academic knowledge and performance. This study aims to clarify the current situation, purposes, and significance of private tutoring for primary school students. In addition to its potential benefits, such as helping students reinforce knowledge, improve skills, and gain greater confidence in learning, excessive or inappropriate participation in private tutoring may also produce negative effects, including psychological pressure, reduced recreational time, adverse impacts on health, and limitations on children’s holistic development. Therefore, an objective and comprehensive evaluation of the effects of private tutoring is necessary in order to propose appropriate solutions that support the healthy and effective development of primary school students, while also providing useful information for parents, schools, and educational policymakers.
