GREEN ECONOMY AND DEVELOPMENT, 2025, vol. 3

Abstract: This article analyzes the impact of balance of payments indicators on the stability of the national currency. Inthe context of the acceleration of world economic relations, indicators such as the foreign trade balance, current accountand capital movements are emerging as the main factors determining the country‘s economic stability. A positive balancein the balance of payments increases the demand for the national currency and reduces the risk of its depreciation, whilea negative balance, on the contrary, puts pressure on the exchange rate. In this regard, the article studies the dynamicsof Uzbekistan‘s balance of payments in recent years and the main internal and external factors affecting the exchangerate of the national currency – the soum. The results of the study show that increasing export volumes, attracting foreigninvestment and strengthening foreign exchange reserves are of great importance in ensuring the stability of the nationalcurrency.
