EXAMINING LEADERSHIP DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FEMALE AND MALE MANAGERS

Abstract: Leadership styles of female and male managers are examined to identify their distinctive characteristicsand managerial approaches. The relevance of this topic is associated with the increasing participation of womenin leadership positions and the growing interest of organizations in identifying leadership practices that contributeto organizational effectiveness. Evidence from previous studies indicates that female managers tend to emphasizecommunication, collaboration, employee engagement, and the creation of a supportive working environment.Male managers, by contrast, are more likely to focus on organizational structure, clearly defined objectives, andperformance outcomes through a more direct and task-oriented leadership approach. However, no single leadershipstyle can be considered universally superior, as managerial effectiveness depends on organizational context, teamcharacteristics, and strategic objectives. Both leadership styles can produce successful outcomes when appliedappropriately. The study employs a systematic literature review to synthesize existing empirical and theoreticalresearch on gender and leadership
