from Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, Centre for Studies in European Integration

Abstract: If higher education is one of the engines of the economy and a key point on the ‘knowledge triangle’, then the productivity, quality and status of research produced by universities is a vital indicator. In the institutions providing higher education programs, the research, development and innovation, and artistic creation activities shall be carried out for the purpose of knowledge production and training of the highly qualified specialists. The organization and implementation of the scientific research in the higher education shall be regulated through the University Charter, the regulations for organization and operation of the doctoral school, PhD programs approved by the Senate, and by other normative acts. Education and research are the most important factors of progress. The Republic of Moldova proves its potential through its teachers, researchers, intelligent young people who will shape the image of our country among the states of the European continent. Thus, in the context of the internationalization of economic and social relations, education policies and research should ensure the consolidation of a knowledge-based economy and the sustainability of its development. In this context, the synergy of higher education and research is the cornerstone of university education in the Republic of Moldova.
