Abstract:
Familiarity with and use of learning strategies are the central element of effective and strategic learning. Students must be able to assume responsibility for knowledge acquisition and the development of related skills. Learning strategies are an important factor of lifelong learning for students and teachers. The teacher's basic role lies in helping students on their way to independent learning, as students require knowledge on reading strategies and familiarity with their skills in order to be able to recognise their learning style. The teacher's task is to activate their prior knowledge. In experimental workshop on facilitating reading motivation presents how reading and post-reading creativity are introduced to students with the help of various didactic approaches and activities. Different reading strategies are used to facilitate and develop the active role of students in independent learning. The emphasis lies on activities that follow the reading of literary texts, the development of their creativity in reproducing their own story, in changing the ending of the story, the dramatisation of the literary text, writing a good mood recipe, a simple travelogue, making their own journal, a fairytale train of stories, and a reading quiz. Coloured hats are used to reflect on the 'With Reading to Dreaming' workshop. The experimental workshop focused on bringing the book closer to fourth- and fifth-grade students, showing them the infinite possibilities of reliving literary texts and inspiring them for further reading and use of reading strategies when learning at home or writing research papers and reports.
