Abstract: The theory of human capital had as precursors: Theodore W. Schultz, considered the father of human capital, and Gary Becker has extended the approach, despite heavy criticism from economists of the time. Nobel economy, Schultz's work, focused on the agricultural economy, was concerned to understand the economics of being poor, and Becker, through research, was concerned with the social side checking investments in worker training, health, migration and especially in direct and indirect return to education. Both authors contributed differently to the theory of human capital, however interlaced form.
