Abstract:
The dairy industry is one of the main activities of Brazilian agribusiness, playing a role of vital importance in the economic and social development of the country. This work aims to map the main economic and social indicators of this field and to understand the influence of the incorporation of technologies in agro-industrial complex. Complementary data collected through literature review and databases from industry and statistical institutes were used. The main results showed that, the achievement of a competitive dairy sector will be a task of great efforts by all links in the chain. It has also been shown that implementing good practice along with an improvement in the pastures used is essential, and it would help considerably to lowering production costs in the country.
