Abstract:
Venezuela needs to examine the future trends of the hydrocarbon market, in order to visualize the changes in the technological configuration, the security and energy efficiency policies and its role in The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). A prospective view of the 21st century PDVSA is examined, within a 2010-2040 horizon. The prospective method was used as a tool to identify and describe future scenarios. One of the future effects is the role of renewable energies, the economic growth derived from technological advances in unconventional gas and oil, and the alliances between OPEC and non-OPEC countries. Three scenarios were obtained: economic growth and development; energy efficiency and environment; geopolitics, and energy security and transition.
