Abstract: The 2024 Report examines Africa's trade potential in the context of increasing economic uncertainty, changing global trade patterns and growing exposure to external shocks. It analyses opportunities to expand regional markets, strengthen intra-African trade and reduce vulnerabilities associated with concentrated export structures and dependence on external demand. Particular attention is given to the role of regional integration, market diversification and productive capacity development in enhancing economic resilience. The Report evaluates barriers affecting trade performance, including infrastructure constraints, regulatory challenges, financing gaps and supply-side limitations. It also considers the implications of risk management and resilience-building strategies for long-term development. The analysis identifies policy measures aimed at strengthening regional trade, improving competitiveness and supporting sustainable growth through deeper economic integration and expanded market opportunities across Africa.
