Abstract: The 2020 Report examines the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on maritime transport, global supply chains and international trade. It analyses disruptions to shipping services, port operations, transport demand and freight markets, and assesses their implications for economic activity and trade performance. Particular attention is given to the role of maritime transport in maintaining the movement of essential goods during a global crisis and to the operational challenges faced by ports, shipping companies and logistics providers. The Report evaluates emerging trends in supply-chain management, resilience-building and risk mitigation, and considers how the pandemic may reshape globalization, trade patterns and maritime transport networks. It also reviews regulatory responses and measures adopted to support business continuity and safeguard international transport operations. The analysis highlights the strategic importance of maritime transport in supporting economic recovery and strengthening resilience to future disruptions.
