Abstract: The 2022 Report examines development prospects in an increasingly fragmented and uncertain global economy. It analyses the combined effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, rising inflation, tighter monetary policy and slowing global growth on developing and developed economies. Particular attention is given to the risks associated with aggressive monetary tightening, capital flow volatility, declining real wages and growing debt burdens. The Report evaluates the implications of these trends for economic stability, development financing and poverty reduction. It also considers the role of regional cooperation and international policy coordination in mitigating the effects of global shocks. The analysis highlights policy options for supporting growth, managing inflation and strengthening economic resilience while avoiding prolonged stagnation and increasing divergence between countries.
