Abstract: This article analyses the growth pattern shown by large Latin-American domestic-capital firms since the '70s. A framework is suggested for dealing with this issue from a conceptual point of view. This framework rests on the distinction between firms ability for founding the growth process, on the one side, from that of getting access to investment opportunities, on the other. The essay collects its raw material from a wide literature review but its main objective is to both arrange and integrate the empirical evidence into the suggested theoretical framework
