Abstract: Research on social geography is, to some extent, tied to the dynamics of territorial communities' development. In many cases, there is a lack of accurate information about what processes are taking place in smaller territorial units, who are the subjects that act under the new (changed) conditions, what are the actual regional social differences, which social regulators are most important, what means are needed for effective impact and what social consequences are expected in the near future. Analysing the spatial-correlation between contemporary higher education and the territorial communities in Bulgaria is a complex scientific task. Undoubtedly, social problems are mostly concentrated and exacerbate at smaller territorial levels and in smaller societies.
