Abstract: In this article the authors will try to show us the specific of regional economic development in Bulgaria. Economic development in different territorial units should help the development of the region as a whole, and to be a prerequisite for increasing the competitiveness of individual regions. Particular attention should be paid to the development of national sectoral policies on the specific features of regional economic development, paying due attention to the socio-economic analysis of the region's development, on which to build regional development policy in the region.
