Abstract: The development analyzes the possibilities of using a patient or hospital ombudsman as a possible and effective tool for timely and fair resolution of conflicts in the exercise of patients' rights. In this sense, the figure of the hospital and patient ombudsman in the historical and comparative aspects of its traditions and related institutes for protection of patients' rights is studied, the options for its application are analyzed taking into account some specifics of mediation practices, as well as substantiated proposals for introduction of good practices and possible hypotheses for shaping legislative changes.
