Abstract:
In the report, the degree of cultural context is outlined as a dimension of cultural differences with the potential to influence the mediation process in a multicultural environment. The thesis is advanced that the mediator should be aware of the characteristics of communication in high-context and low-context cultures, be able to adapt their approach according to these characteristics, and purposefully guide the parties toward revealing their interests in relation to the context. The necessity of co-mediation with mediators belonging to both types of cultures, depending on the context, is substantiated.
