Abstract: Part of the criticism towards the boards of the banks after the Worl financial and economic crisis were ones regarding their structure in terms of age, gender, experience, education, etc. The analysis in the current study is oriented towards gender determinant of upper echelons –boards of directors and supervisory boards. Do the financial institutions accept the challenge to change, and to what extent the policies for corporate social responsibility are engaged with this? Are their diversity initiatives only result of the EU legislation and the following changes in the national legislation of the member states?
