Abstract:
In the XXI century, in the context of globalization, various tourist destinations (countries and groups of countries) actively compete. This is due to the rapid development of transport, an increase in the standard of living of the population, the removal of visa barriers, and the invention of the Internet. High growth is shown primarily by the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, namely the Association of Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN), which actively conducts its tourism policy. This article analyzes the role of the ASEAN countries in the development of the world tourism market based on official statistics. The author's typology of States according to the level of tourism contribution to the state economy and the share of people employed in this industry is proposed.
