Abstract: Tourism in the last decade has been characterized by almost continuous growth. However, in Bulgaria it has a number of problems to solve. One of them is the disparities in the territorial development of tourism in the country, not least the irrational use of tourism resources and tourist infrastructure. The southwestern planning region is among the leading regions in the country in terms of tourism, but here as in other regions there are still a number of problems to be solved. The purpose of this report is to study the situation and identify the prospects for sustainable tourism development in the Southwestern Planning Region.
