CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR THE EVALUATION OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN THE WAREHOUSE

Miroslav Stefanov ()

INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE "HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT", 2020, issue 1, 251-261

Abstract: Human resources with their knowledge, skills and professional experience are a key factor in the competition, as they contribute to the improvement of customer service and the achievement of logistics' goal. Warehousing operations are one of the most labor-intensive in logistics and this outlines the relevance of the topic both in theoretical and practical aspects. On the one hand, the efforts of a number of researchers are focused on finding ways to assess the efficiency of human resources involved in warehousing operations, and on the other hand, the attention of logistics managers is focused on finding ways to improve human resources management in the warehouses, in the conditions of an emerging chronic shortage of labor in logistics. The purpose of this report is to present a conceptual framework for conducting research and evaluation of some applied practices in human resource management involved in the warehousing activities of Bulgarian manufacturing and trading organisations. The framework provides a system of measures and indicators for evaluating several key human resource management practices that are subject to stand-alone policies. Thesystem is a basic evaluation tool which allowed conducting comparative research in different periods of time and in different countries. Some guidelines for future studies and evaluation system improvement are also pointed out.
