Abstract:
The article is dedicated to the ninetieth anniversary of the University of Economics – Varna. The author’s proposition is that the now current process of integration of Bulgarian higher education in the educational area of the European Union has its history. Such intentions, but with a view to the times, have had the individuals and the institutions that on 14 May 1920 in Varna established the first Higher School of Commerce in Bulgaria. In that connection there are discussed questions, throwing light on the beginning of higher economic education in the context of the European criteria.
