Abstract: At the present stage, the issue of the influence of digital technologies and artificial intelligence on the transformation of workplaces is gaining increasing relevance in the theory and practice of business management. The article discusses the concept of workplace innovation and presents the author's points of view on this concept. Based on an analysis of theoretical and empirical research, the opportunities, challenges and benefits that artificial intelligence creates for innovative workplace changes are highlighted. The problem is also analysed empirically on the example of one of the manifestations of the innovation potential of digital technologies –platform work. Results of an empirical study among platform workers from Bulgaria show that working through a platform is perceived by the respondents as a new form of self-employment, which creates opportunities for additional income, for a better work-life balance, flexibility and retention in the labour market. Conclusions and recommendations from the research are formulated.
