Abstract:
This study explores the diversity, characteristics and classification of traditional foods (TFs) in Bulgaria, emphasizing their types and cultural significance. The research analyzes current perspectives and practical opportunities for promoting TFs in both local and global contexts. A mixed-method approach combining literature review and comparative case studies from selected European countries was used. Successful practices for safeguarding and marketing traditional products - such as regional labeling, culinary tourism, and educational programs are presented. The findings highlight the role of community engagement, and institutional support in enhancing the visibility and economic value of traditional foods. The study concludes with practical recommendations for supporting and promoting Bulgarian traditional foods through sustainable development programs.
