Abstract: In the study there is given a characterization of the safe and healthy working conditions andthe indicators of their assessment. There is proposed an expansion of the system for assessment.Substantiated is the contribution of international organizations to the formation of the contemporaryBulgarian legislation in this area. There is given an outline of the national policy on occupationalsafety and health.Clarified are the specific character of occupational safety and health in construction and theres ponsibilities of the participants in construction-assembly processes on the introduction andobservance of safe and healthy working conditions. There are formulated some suggestions for changes in the normative matter. As a result of an analysis of statistical information there are made conclusions and forecasts about the development of occupational safety and health in the sector.
