Abstract:
The Austrian industry is vulnerable to energy price shocks due to the economic importance of energy-intensive sectors, the energy mix in important non-energy-intensive sectors, and the strong persistence in the use of specific energy carriers. The development of energy prices in recent years has led to a deterioration in price competitiveness across industries. The availability of energy at competitive prices is therefore a crucial factor for Austria as an industrial location.
