Abstract:
The Critical Raw Materials Act seeks to make the EU less dependent on important but scarce raw materials – especially from China. Strategic partnerships with third countries also serve this purpose. So far, Memoranda of Understanding have been signed with Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Greenland, Kazakhstan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, Norway, Rwanda, Serbia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Zambia. Results and potential of the treaties are as diverse as these countries. Further tangible projects, binding financing and partnerships should follow quickly.
