80th Euroconstruct Conference: European Construction Market Outlook Until 2018 – European Construction on a Slow But Steady Growth Path. Summary Report

N. N.

in WIFO Studies from WIFO

Abstract: Growth in European construction output is expected to increase steadily from 2014 onwards until the end of the forecasting period 2018 in the 19 Euroconstruct countries. From a sectoral point of view civil engineering will be the main driver with an expected increase by 3.3 percent in 2015, since the past low levels where not sustainable over a longer period. Growth will mainly stem from new construction since many projects were cancelled or postponed in the recent past. On the other hand economic growth was yet not strong enough to stimulate non-residential construction which will stagnate in the 19 countries in 2015 (+0.1 percent). Also the housing market did not recover significantly in 2015 (+1.8 percent), which should change from 2016 onwards according to the national forecasts. The Euroconstruct Summary Report provides a macroeconomic analysis and an overview of the European construction industry by sectors (housing, non-residential construction and civil engineering; new and renovation, respectively) up to 2018.
