Advancing Toward Science: Retreating From Responsibility?

Abstract: Political scientists currently devote considerable effort to forecasting, but when it comes to policy, they rarely deal with content as opposed to efficacy, efficiency, or cost‐effectiveness. Similarly, they hardly ever consider “speaking truth to power” to be their obligation. This article suggests that policy and ethics would benefit if political scientists, like economists, would utilize their skills to do so. Caution, though, is necessary. 政治科学家目前将相当大的精力投入在了预测方面，但就政策而言，相对于政策功效、政策效率或政策成本效益，政策内容却是科学家所基本忽视的。相似的是，他们几乎不把 “对权力讲真话”视为他们的义务。 本文指出，如果政治科学家能像经济学家一样利用自身技能去做事的话，那么相关政策和道德规范制度就会因此受益。当然，他们也需要慎重行事。 Los expertos en ciencias políticas ponen mucho esfuerzo en la predicción, pero cuando tiene que ver con la política, muy infrecuentemente lidian con el contenido, en vez de la eficacia o efectividad de costo. Similarmente, casi nunca consideran que “decirle la verdad al poder“ sea su obligación. Este artícullo sugiere que la política y la ética podrían beneficiarse si los expertos en ciencias políticas, como los economistas, utilizaran sus habilidades para ello. La cautela, sin embargo, es necesaria.
