Abstract:
Personal values are a basic component of our personality. When such values are held uncritically by those in powerful positions, but are not explicit and not articulated, they may contain the seeds of severe organizational and social disruption. In insurance, one need look no further than the Equity Funding fraud to find what can happen when values of insurance executives are misguided and they undertake irresponsible and unethical actions that undermine the public's confidence and trust in the insurance industry.
