Abstract:
The (110) surface ofCu85Pd15adopts an ordered structure which can be controlled by Ar bombardment and thermal treatment. A summary is given of the large body of theoretical and experimental work on the physical and electronic structure of bulkCuxPd1−xalloys. The electronic structure of the orderedCu85Pd15(110)surface is discussed in terms of the conclusions drawn from the study of bulk CuPd alloys.
