Abstract:
I met Yair Aharoni in 1989 when I joined Duke University as a visiting scholar. I arrived in Durham, North Carolina, from Hungary, after defending my doctoral dissertation and completing a six-week-long English course. As a junior faculty member, I received a scholarship from the Soros Foundation to spend a year at any university in the United States that was willing to accept me.
