Lyudmila N. Usenko, Victoriya A. Guzey, Natalia M. Usenko and Svetlana S. Lavrenchenko

Chapter 5 in Sustainable Development of the Green Entrepreneurial Economy, 2025, pp 45-59 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: During the research, the authors highlighted the main key factors that will contribute to the formation of the idea of transforming toward a green economy, which is relevant at present. They also outlined a set of technological changes necessary to realize a green economy and identified several criteria to assess these technological changes. Implementing the green economy as an innovative business model is necessary to ensure its sustainable development. The green economy model will contribute to the development of technological transformation and favor the achievement of a new vector of economic development, which will consequently offset the negative impact on the environment when using exhaustible natural resources. The implementation of the business model of a green economy everywhere can be realistically realized only if the necessary prerequisites are provided. Their presence will ensure the formation and development of progressive technological changes in the economy. It is necessary to recognize the existence of a set of technological limitations that slow down the successful development of the green economy and reduce the possibilities of using renewable energy sources. These include the high cost of wind and solar power plants, the high cost of production of electric vehicles, which are an environmentally friendly mode of transport, and the underdevelopment of infrastructure facilities for charging and servicing electric vehicles.
