Chapter 26 in Knowledge Management:Innovation, Technology and Cultures, 2007, pp 309-315 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: AbstractKnowledge management (KM) seems to have become a ubiquitous phenomenon both in the academic and in the corporate world. However, according to the literature, there has not been any comprehensive and holistic empirical study of the current status and practices of KM in corporations. Therefore, we want to examine the different usage of knowledge management tools on a departmental level of a multinational, basic industry company. This paper focuses on the use of knowledge management tools and shows that not all tools have the same impact – especially in different departments. We interviewed 149 employees from three sites to analyze significant differences.
